2010 Europe Trip

Eiffel Tower

Following Rob’s heart attack in November 2009 our trip to Europe in April, May 2010 looked in doubt until we received clearance from the cardiologist and doctors that overseas travel would be OK. Medieval Village of Montone, Italy In addition we were able to get travel insurance for pre-existing medical conditions from ANZ.   Our trip this year will be relaxed and casual rather than a rush around whistlestop trip.  First of all 9 days in Paris in an apartment living like the locals, then off to Italy with the first stop being Lake Como in the North of Italy for 4 days.  After Lake Como we travel to Umbria for 3 weeks staying in a medieval walled village of Montone where we spent three months in 2006.   We are looking forward to our return to Montone as friends, Luke and Allison that we met there in 2006 are living there for 12 months with their 3 children.   From Italy we travel to the United Kingdom and Ireland for 4 weeks visiting Liz’s sister and her husband who are living in Wells, Somerset.

2006 Europe Trip

Village of Montone, Umbria, Italy

Our 2006 trip will be something entirely different from our round Australia expeditions when we venture to Europe spending two weeks travelling through England and Scotland before heading across to Paris for a few days. We pick up a new Peugeot 307 Sports Station Wagon in Paris and spend a week travelling across to Italy where we will spend 10 weeks in a small village called Montone.  Montone is a medieval village in northern Umbria, in the heart of medieval Italy, about 220 kms north of Rome.  Founded between AD800 and 1000, Montone is a working village, now officially recognised as Uno dei Borghi più belli d’Italia, “One of the Most Beautiful Towns in Italy”.  After 10 weeks in Montone we then travel to Venice for a few days then back to Paris to return our car and home.
