Well, a new adventure and a great departure from our round Australia travels.   This year we are heading to Europe for an extended stay  and to experience the Italian way of life.  We will be away for a total of 3 1/2 months. Our first stop is Dubai for a three day stopover where Liz can shower herself in gold and diamonds, then on to England for 15 days where we will pick up a hire car and head to Scotland.  We will then fly to Paris where we pick up a new Peugeot 307 Sports Station Wagon which will be our wheels for the next 3 months. From Paris we will spend 7 days travelling to our apartment in Montone, Italy.  On leaving Paris we head south through the Loire Valley, then continue south via Lyon, Cannes, Nice and Monaco before crossing the border into Italy.  From their we will visit the Cinque Terra, Pisa and then make a dash to Montone in Umbria.

So the first question you ask is where is Montone, Italy. Well it is located 220 km north east of Rome on the Umbria/Tuscany border.    It is 133 km from Florence, 111 km from Sienna and 47 km from Perugia.    Click here to see the Italy map and the location of Montone.    Set on a mountain 482 metres above sea level, Montone is a small medieval walled village in Northern Umbria "The Green Heart of Italy".  It is away from the regular tourist destinations which provides us with a great opportunity to experience genuine Italian hospitality and life in a small Italian community.
